The village of Santa Teresa di Gallura on a small promontory juts to Corsica, the French island that is geographically situated to the north of Sardinia.
The distance to the French border is just 11 miles, little more than miles.
To the north east of the country is rather the archipelago of La Maddalena, a group of Italian islands located in the Sea of Sardinia.
The development of the country is divided into two strips of land, sea inlets: one where the port is located and the other is Longone Rena Bianca.
The first area takes its name from a port that is located there, while the second has one of the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia but of Italy.
Overall, the country is in the form of typical Roman camp, with a rectangular plan with streets at right angles to each other, the castro and decumanus. This topography is derived from military camps of Roman origin, but imported from Piedmont, which here has had considerable influence in the course of history.
